OH MY GOD YAY IT WORKS. Had to search up a tutorial to make sure my boomer ass got this right, but yeehaw.
This means that I can post my VegasPete stuff here well after VP Week ends on twitter, hehe.
Speaking of....

VegasPete fanart detail

..have some VegasPete. This is actually the first piece I've done entirely digitally--everything I do is mixed media, since I was trained traditionally (and I just prefer putting pen to paper. Never could make myself draw with a tablet, even with the technological advances). Color is all done digitally tho, and so! This was all drawn with a mouse.

I've taught myself very simple pixel art, so this is kind of the next step with teaching myself digital art, but in a way that's aggressively different from the way digital art is nowadays. Because I'm stubborn, I guess.

What else, what else. I contributed to the character+mascot design for a good friend of mine's project, along with two highly skilled, very popular tokusatsu artists. I'm the odd one out amongst my design teammates, as I'm the, uh, less skilled queer R18 artist who draws BL--but I'm the one who originally designed this character (visually, writing backstory and whatnot is all Vintage Henshin) and came up with her overall visuals, so I am going to try and take pride in contributing. FeelsGoodMan.

I'm kind of nervous and yet looking forward to attending my friends' wedding. I've been friends with them for over 10+ years now, and they've genuinely helped me out during some rough times. I'm really happy for them, and I can't wait to see all of the rest of my friends there too. It's just, I'm very much more of a hikikomori now thanks to the pandemic, lol lmao, and especially since I've let myself go thanks to that aaaaaa.

Feels like I gotta speedrun scraping a whole bunch of shit together and pray that getting down there and back isn't too much of a hassle. It'll be fine. Gotta not think too hard...and yet here I am with one outfit put together and another I'm going to try to cobble together for backup just in case.

Also apparently I'm participating in like, three different major upcoming art projects:
SSBB August Issue (queer historical romance, probably thinking Taisho era or Grand Guigonol related)

NU: Carnivale anthology (I submitted three ideas. Ironically the one I feel like working on the most is the tamest g rated thing.)

VegasPete Week (the one I am looking forward most to. Already have something planned for how the presentation will be. Gotta set up a popiku account though and remember to censor accordingly lmao)

Annnnnnnnd I think that's about it. I've picked up a good amount of roms that I think I might try to play here and there in between streaming and work so I can play vidya not just for streaming. Wanna set up my PS4 though and get back into fighting games tho, thanks EVO.

I should go to sleep now, it's late. I'll see if I can upload more art here soon.

OH BOY I HAVEN'T POSTED HERE IN A WHILE

I've genuinely been busy, what with work and streaming and a bunch of other stuff. Let's just say that while I've been working really, really hard at my IRL job, I'm happy that my hobby is paying off, and I might be doing my first (on paper) charity stream soon! I've assisted with one before, will be assisting with another soon, and then will be applying for one with my team later this year.

Good stuff. I'll be using it as a sort of test run to see exactly how that works, as I really want to do charity work, but towards a cause that I genuinely feel strongly about. We'll see though. I don't think I exactly fit the "charity" streamer persona most charities who partner with streamers tend to ask for (no swearing, no TOS breaking content, no "questionable" or M rated games, etc...which is uh, everything I do, sort of) but hey, if Jabroni Mike can do it, so can I.

Aside from that! I'm still riding the high from the KinnPorsche The Series World Tour livestream concert from this morning. It started at 5:00 AM my time, and ended at 10:00 AM--meaning that I got to watch the sun rise as the concert progressed. Really nice. My sleep schedule is eternally fucked. It's fine, tho--I got to see a really great show, and I gave up and became vaguely kpoppie trash because I now stan BibleBuild. What have I become. I really do believe in this collaborative effort+project team Be On Cloud is doing with their artists--maybe because I'm an outsider to stan culture or live action BL fandom, I don't understand the rabid need to have certain actors "win" or trend or whatever over others, especially when it's clear that the entire cast is in this thing together with their staff and whatnot. Maybe it's because I also come from a "creative background"--while I never worked in the industry outright, I have friends who do, and I've been in the freelance trenches for so long that I have a basic understanding that the sausage is never made the way fans think things are? This is vague rambling, I won't even get into it when I have better things to talk about, like P'Tong and Us just being Queen Hoes and Build apparently entering his slut era

I can't form a coherent sentence. The concert was just a wild ride feat. the entire cast wilding out. Good for them.

UH I'M STILL WATCHING DONBROTHERS. I managed to catch up on that, going to save the newest episode for tomorrow, since my brain is still poisoned from the concert. The ending of KinnPorsche is good, too, and I am really looking forward to seeing what team BOC does next in terms of international filmmaking.

What else. Oh, I got a PS4, and got to see my friends IRL recently! I luckily did NOT get covid, but one of my roommates did at her job, and it was a scary few weeks, but she did recover. I'm probably going to lock down for a good while until I have to go outside again for an important event...but for now, it's drinking and chilling time.

OH BOY I'VE BEEN BUSY.

This past week, and the week before, has just been nonstop IRL work. Holidays means more work for me, ironically, in regards to the business I work in.

KinnPorsche Episode 11 was fucking amazing. I feel like I keep saying "ok but THIS is my favorite episode" after each episode airs, but Episodes 10 and 11 were just solid tour de forces. I'm amazed at how frankly the show tackled some mature themes about abuse+generational trauma and really, really rounded out the characters, and I'm even more impressed after reading translated excerpts of the big academic lecture that the cast+lead director/producer+acting coach did just the other day.

I genuinely hope the whole lecture gets fully subbed because it goes over not just the thought process of each actor and how they approached the characters, but the structural organization of the set, how they decided to throw out all of the hierarchy that's usually a part of the Thai film industry, and encouraging actors like Apo (Porsche) and Tong (Tankhun) to not suppress the way they are or fit a certain kind of male persona was very interesting. It's something that's new to me, as a newly minted fan of live action BL dramas, especially since I tend to try to hold the idol and showbiz culture elements at arm's length as much as possible (especially on social media, where kpop/stan style fandom is an unrelenting torrent)

Other things--I'm going to be meeting up IRL for 4th of July with some of my closest friends for the first time in, shit, possibly a year. I'm kind of nervous since I have basically tried to stay as safe as possible, but I'll try to stay calm and do testing before and after I visit. I'm going to be meeting them all again in August when two of my friends are getting married, so this is like a rehearsal, lol.

Come to think of it, these two friends of mine who are getting married, I originally met via LiveJournal. I randomly became friends with another longtime friend of ours thru the Kaiji Community, and then went to Yaoicon to meet the whole gang--and the rest is history. I can't believe that I've been friends with these guys for over ten years now. It's almost fitting that I'm writing about it here on Dreamwidth. Full circle.

I am screaming here as opposed to Tw*tter because right now, Thailand is going through a serious situation and people need the trending hashtags clear so that protestors and civilians on the ground can know what's going on and be up to date.

It's interesting to see the venues for fandom also be used for social service.

Anyway, aside from that,

Cut for KinnPorsche Episode Ten Spoilers, which is me just screaming about how VegasPete is Finally Here )Cut for KinnPorsche Episode Ten Spoilers, which is me just screaming about how VegasPete is Finally Here )
